10 Political Parties Demand Convening "Special Session" in Manipur Assembly, Submit Memorandum To Governor
The 10 political parties demand convening a special session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly to discuss the present turmoil in Manipur. The 10 political parties have submitted a memorandum to the Governor regarding the aggravating situations of strife-tone Manipur.
JD(U) Dr. Nimaichan Luwang in a press conference held at Congress Bhavan asserted that the 10 like-minded political Parties have come together to seek an appointment for PM.
He said Hareshowre Goswami for Congress is in Delhi pursuing an appointment for PM.
Nimaichand said, there is a demand for a "Separate Administration" from 10 MLAs belonging to Kuki while there is a strong call for preserving the unity and integrity of Manipur from various sections of the society.
He said those 10 MLAs possess a stronghold of the BJP Government as 7 of them are affiliated with the present government.
He alleged that the demand for a "Separate administration" can be viewed as the demand by the BJP government. The present government remains muffled in disputing the unconstitutional stand of the 10 Kuki Legislatures, so he alleged that the present government is in favor of that "separate administration" demand.
He asked why the present government has not yet taken any stringent action against those 10 dissenting voices demanding separate administration.
Nimaichand further slams the Manipur "Peace Committee" for not following any conventional process. He said the formation process is fuzzy and many were not consulted before the formation of the Peace Committee.
The Communist Party, Sotinkumar stated that the Peace committee is an insult to Governor. Many have rejected being a peace committee member after its formation. There was no consultation on that, all conventional process has been subdued. So this is a futile initiative of the present government, said Sotinkumar.
Former Chief Minister and CLP leader O. Ibobi said the Home Minister's Shah visit to Manipur on 29th May was also purposeless, he just announced a few packages for relief rather than bringing a political solution to the present unrest.
The former CM appreciates the initiative for the construction of the pre-fabricated houses, however, until the burning situation cools down, it will be unfavorable for the affected victims to return to their native place. Ibobi suggested bringing about a conducive environment before shifting the displaced people back home.
At this crucial juncture, it's not time for politicalizing the current issues, said Ibobi.
The pre-fabricated housing project is not the solution, will the violence survivors be able to go back to the newly constructed home, asked the former CM.
The 10 political party emphasizes to have a fruitful and positive discussion on issues arising from the present crisis, and demand convening a special session of the Manipur Legislative Assemble.
The 10 political parties are, MPCC, JD(U), Communist Party, AITC, AAP, AIFB Manipur, NCP Manipur, Shiv Sena, and Revolutionary Socialist Party.
